My credit isnt established yet so what is a good financing rate for buying a used car?

I am 19 and i want to buy my first used car. The car i want to buy is about 12000. I plan on putting 2 thousand down and i was wondering what kind of apr i should get with the car only being financed for 10000, with my new credit in mind? Also i do have a source of income. I make about 2000 a month
My credit isnt established yet so what is a good financing rate for buying a used car?
You can get, and shouldn%26#039;t take anything higher than 9 percent. Thats average for first time buyers. Now don%26#039;t get lied to b/c alot of times, car dealers will tell you that since its your first car, you need to buy a new car. Thats the biggest crock of crap i%26#039;ve ever heard, however they tell people that all the time. There are first time buyer programs for people so they can get a 25,000 dollar car with 9 percent interest. So if you want to buy new you can, but dont be fooled by anyone that you have too.
My credit isnt established yet so what is a good financing rate for buying a used car?
I highly doubt you will get 9% with no credit established yet. There is a huge credit crunch right now. People are defaulting on cars and homes at a record pace. Consequently, banks are tighter than ever on loans. It is not as easy to qualify for those low rates as it used to be. I am seeing loans that were a lock 1 yr ago getting kicked back today.

You have not yet proven your ability to repay a significant loan. A bank will likely want a cosigner in order to finance you. And, contrary to the previous advice, you may want to consider a new car. Why? Because many new cars have factory rebates, which count toward your down payments. Also, many manufacturer%26#039;s have subsidized rates and programs right now. You don%26#039;t have either of those on a used car.

Check for a loan approval with an online broker like lendingtree.com or eloan.com. Both will shop your appication to multiple lenders. That way you should get the best available rate based on your credit and income history.

Good luck!

I need Help with Cars? Your Opinion?

My friends b-day is coming, I can either Buy him a car or give one of mine.

cars i can buy him that he likes:

Enzo Ferrari, Pagani Zonda C12, Porsche Carrera GT.

Cars i have:

Hummer H2 Lamborghini Murcielago Explorer Jaguar(sports) Mercadies SLR Mclaren F150

E150 Expedition CRV Toyota Camry.

And another F150 for my sisters shopping

Which should i pick
I need Help with Cars? Your Opinion?
I would get him the Enzo Ferrari, and while you are at it, get me one too.
I need Help with Cars? Your Opinion?
Mercadies SLR Mclaren or Lamborghini Murcielago. He would love either too, they are the most expensive, and nicest cars. Thats what you wanted and got, you konw he would like the same.
Reply:Well, the make and model don%26#039;t matter as Hot wheels don%26#039;t vary on price from one to the other. I think you should check Walmart and see what%26#039;s in stock and if you can%26#039;t find something better go with something that%26#039;s still in the package.
Reply:Thanks, Mr. Weisscue !!! You made my imagination work !! This is what I propose: Put each key in a nice box corresponding to all the cars you have now. Seal them, and no clue as to which vehicle it is for. Then put a another token key, to represent the car you can and will buy for your friend, if he likes another one. Then, on his birthday, after all the guests are there, and had partaken of the food ( if you prefer many guests ), call their attention in the middle of the party to this some sort of raffle. Then, as you are willing and able to let go of any of the cars, let him choose the key he wants, and that%26#039;s where the fun begins!

Your friend will love you more for this added surprise, more so if you give him a thick wad of gas redeemable coupons!
Reply:Give or get him the cheapest car. If they guy really loves you for you, then he won%26#039;t complain. If he%26#039;s only chasing you for your money then he%26#039;s going to ******! And it%26#039;s best to find it out right away before your pour a lot of money into a lot of expensive gifts just to find out he%26#039;s using you..
Reply:Forget the car.

Get him a Yacht.

Reply:You are buying your friend a car for his bday????

Can I be your friend too?
Reply:Dude, get him the Ferrari Enzo because the cars you have are too common. There are only 399 (400) Enzo%26#039;s. The Enzo is a mid-engined car. The engine is Ferrari%26#039;s V12 with 4 valves per cylinder, dual overhead cams and variable valve timing. 651 hp 485 lbs-ft of torque The redline is 8200 rpm. The Enzo can accelerate to 60 mph in 3.14 seconds and can reach 100 mph in 6.6 seconds. The 录 mile time is from 10.8 to 11.2 sec at well over 130 mph and the top speed is 221.9 mph.

Here%26#039;s a picture: http://www.germanexotics.com/index/exoti...

Buy it here:http://www.dupontregistry.com/autos/Sear...

If you have to give him one of your cars, get him the Lamborghini or the SLR. If you can%26#039;t get the Enzo, get the Carrera GT, THEN the Zonda

You should follow the same guidelines as you would any car purchase. Get the car inspected for problems by someone that either knows cars well like say a friend that%26#039;s %26quot;really%26quot; a mechanic and not just one that thinks he or she is or see if they will allow you to take the car to auto repair shop. You might say well it will cost money to have a repair shop to look at the car. It might cost you a few dollars to get it checked out, but it could save you hundreds or even thousands if it turns out the car has costly repairs that you didn%26#039;t spot before you purchased the car. In the past I bought a car and a truck from a buy here and pay here car lot and neither the car or truck lasted as long as the payments did. Both had transmission problems that cost between $1,000 and $2,000 dollars for repair work. Next the truck caught on fire and cost me $2,300 in repairs plus I was still making payments because I didn%26#039;t want to ruin the credit I was trying to get started.

Contract Leasing and servicing?

Does anybody know what you%26#039;re supposed to do about servicing a car at the end of a contract lease period - my lease is due to expire 1 week before the next required service - should I get it serviced or not?
Contract Leasing and servicing?
You should have kept it fully maintained throughout the whole period of the lease.

If not you will pay!!
Contract Leasing and servicing?
You are only required to do the service if it is due.

If is not due for a week then don%26#039;t do it.

Take care though. You must look at the service book. The interval for your service is mileage sensitive not only time sensitive. Make sure you have not forgot to do it a certain mileage.

On a personal note, i always go for maintenance included in my lease. I find this save a lot of time and trouble.

All the best.
Reply:No, you are not required to get that one done. Save your money.

People drive gas cars every day.
Reply:If there was a car that was made entirely of gas, i don%26#039;t think it would be safe at all.. or at least it would NOT come with an ash tray..
Reply:Gasoline powered cars have a long record of high safety with very few exceptions, like the infamous Ford Pinto that exploded when suffering a rear-end collision. The only time you need to be careful is when fueling. Stop your engine, and no smoking.
Reply:nope...yes gas cars r safe they been around since idk scine a long time ago but they r now tryinb to creae new cars on the account of gobal warmming (which is gobal cooling in the winter they just call it gobal warmming becuase it sounds scarier) and gas prices but the other day i was watching discorvery or history and it was made in november 2007 and they said america gas will go up and we will run out of gas and it will result in war and i was like all thats happening now but anyway i got off subject yes they r very safe to drive

How much should I pay for an extended warranty for my new car for 6 yrs/100,000 miles?

How much should I pay at the dealer when buying a new car? Is $1,000 a fair price?
How much should I pay for an extended warranty for my new car for 6 yrs/100,000 miles?
Without knowing any other details, its almost impossible to say. For example, If the dealer tells you that you have to change the oil every 3000 miles to keep the warranty in effect, then charges you $30 for each oil change, its not a good deal. Most new cars will easily get 100,000 miles before major problems occur. Many problems will be evident within the manufacturers warranty period anyway, so you don%26#039;t need extra coverage. If you sell the car before 6 years and the warrenty isn%26#039;t transferrable, you%26#039;ve paid for something you%26#039;ll never use. In a lot of cases, the dealer warranty will benefit the dealer more than the customer in the long run. Tread cautiously.
How much should I pay for an extended warranty for my new car for 6 yrs/100,000 miles?
For some folks the warranties arent worth the money but for some people it is. I would have been really in a mess without it a couple times with my car when I didnt have the cash to pay up front. I was really glad I had the extended warranty.

It%26#039;s not hard to get a quote at a website to see how much it will cost for a extended warranty. I have recommended http://warranty.safelinked.info - Good luck.
Reply:you are only getting a 3 year extension. new cars usually have a three year warranty and your six year starts the date of purchase. you are actually paying $330. per year for 3 years. its a gamble you have to decide if you will keep the car more than three years.
Reply:I wouldn%26#039;t buy an extended warranty unless it%26#039;s the first year of a redesigned model.

if your buying a Chrysler or a Jeep, then it will be money well spent.
Reply:Warranties typically aren%26#039;t worth the extra money.

Cars are made very well today. You have to do the normal maintenance anyways, and most of the time you will never get back what you pay for the warranty.
Reply:ZERO. DO NOT BUY ANY EXTENDED WARRANTY.

The manufacturers warranty is free and that is all the coverage you%26#039;ll ever need.

Those warranties are pure profit for the dealer and they are a waste of your hard earned money.
Reply:I would get a longer term, try for 7-8 yrs. As far as price... it depends on the vehicle. Different vehicles have different premiums due to thier loss ratio, (cost of repairs, how often a repair is needed, etc). Premiums for a European car will cost more than Amiercan car, American will cost more than a Asian. Read all the material carefully, and look for any stipulations as far as where you can take your vehicle... how much is covered, deductible, etc.

Also check with your local Credit Union or personal auto insurance provider.

Ride a bike for a year, save the money and shed the extra poundage.

Get a car or a truck and all you have is an easier way to sit and get food.

Get a schwinn meridian and then think about cars after you become healthier.

Yes it is a bad idea to buy a new car, you could have an electric car built for $5000 in Canada.

You can%26#039;t buy these bikes currently in India itself. You have to make it available in India by importing it from other countries for your own usage by paying lot amount of duties and taxes.

Enquire some Suzuki dealers regarding this importing. They may be able to assist you in these regards.

How can you check to see if a used car that you%26#039;re thinking about buying still has its warranty?
If the car is with in the 3yr/36k new car warranty there should be no problem. If the car has a extended warranty to my knowledge my not be transferable. If with in the 3 yr you can get the vin# call any dealer of the brand and they can run the vin# and tell you the date of expiration. If ext wrty. get the paper work and read the whole contract. If you don%26#039;t understand it call the wrty company. I would call two different times to see if you get the same answer. Good Luck

Most dealerships will offer a free car-fax report and provide the warranty in writing. Individuals can show you their warranty papers but will usually make you pay for the car fax report.

You can always go to the brand of the cars website to verify their warranties.
Reply:What dave failed to mention in the long %26quot;non-answer%26quot; is that not all warranties are transferrable. Ask the dealer to show you and if you do a deal on the car make sure you get it in writing that the remainder of the manufacturers warranty is transferred to you.

When your upside down on your car do you have to get a brand new car?

Every time we look at new cars and try to trade our car in they say that we have to get a brand new car to cover the money that we are over in our current car. Is this true? Do you really have to buy a more expensive car to cover the negative equity? We are probably about 4,000 in the negative.
When your upside down on your car do you have to get a brand new car?
you are a rebel ! :)
When your upside down on your car do you have to get a brand new car?
no, but it helps because the APRs are higher on used cars
Reply:not true..they could trade you any car on their lot but want to sell new ones..[more profit for them]...it really doesnt matter new/used as long as new loan covers vehical and the 4K...
Reply:I feel for you I am in the same boat. I want a new car though I just know I have to get a great deal. I would call the people you have your loan through and ask them about it they will be less likely to screw you over in their answer. The car dealers want to get as much money as possible out of you.
Reply:wow, someone flunked out of their personal finance class.

You already owe $4,000 more than your car is worth, and you%26#039;re thinking about taking on thousands more in debt on a car that will depreciate even faster? That is one of the worst financial decisions you can make.

Stay with the car you have, make extra payments on it until its paid off, then save some money and buy a car with cash. Why pay interest on something when what you have is good enough?

If you absolutely can%26#039;t stay with the car you have, then take a personal loan to cover the $4000 difference, sell the car private party and pay off the original car loan. Get the cheapest used car that meets your needs that you can find and pay cash. Then pay off the personal loan, save some money, and upgrade.

If you insist on having what you cannot afford, before you can afford it, you will never be able to afford it. There%26#039;s no shame in driving an old used car while you save up some money. But there is plenty of shame in being so far in debt that you can%26#039;t pay people the money you rightfully owe them, which is where you are headed if you keep financing everything before you can actually afford it.
Reply:They are probably saying that because it would be very difficult for them to find a lender that would cover the loan for a used car + being upside down.

Lenders typically only cover a maximum of 20-30% over the value of the car you are purchasing to account for negative equity (upside down).

The more a car costs, the more leeway the dealer and the lender has.

For example, if you are $4,000 upside down and want to buy a $10,000 car, you will have to finance $14,000 for a $10,000 car. That is 40%, which is over the risk level most lenders will permit.

However, if you are $4,000 upside down and want to buy a $20,000 car, you will finance $24, 000. This is 20%, which is sometimes an acceptable risk.

I would advise trading at all if you have negative equity, but if you do, make sure you look into GAP insurance if it is available.
Reply:Lets cover some basics to help you out. It does not have to be brand new, but if you get a pre owned vehicle you do want to get something on the newer side. I.e. 2-3 years old at the most. Any financial institution you use will have a formula to calculate your negative equity and how much car you need to move 4k over. My experience has been that you need to be in about a $14-$15k vehicle to move 4K negative. Otherwise it can be either used or new.
Reply:I won%26#039;t make any personal slams about your past financial decisions. You can buy used or new. It makes no difference. The only problem you will encounter is adding the negative equity to a used vehicle will put it at a level that most banks won%26#039;t touch. The best thing you can do is reduce the negative equity situation. You could pay down the loan and sell the car yourself. That way you would be in much better shape. I would also recommend not buying new, but finding a late model used car. There are a lot on the market right now and many can be really good deals. Good luck in whatever your decision is.
Reply:The absolute worst thing to do when you are upside down on a car loan is to roll that amount over into another new car and get further upside down. Eventually you wind up paying for all the cars you rolled over and ruin your credit rating.

So, stop looking at new cars. Pay off what you already have instead. Once you get all caught up, if you really want something new every few years, look into leasing instead.
Reply:You don%26#039;t have to buy a new car, but it does require a big loan to bury that. It works, if you%26#039;re an idiot. If you were $50,000 dollars in debt, then the $4000 wouldn%26#039;t worry you as much.

If you%26#039;re not an idiot, you%26#039;d realize that it doesn%26#039;t make any sense to do this, period. You can%26#039;t get out of debt by borrowing a whole lot more money. This is like curing a headache by give yourself 3rd degree burns, so that the headache is not as noticable. It%26#039;s dumb.

Pay the car off, then drive it another 10 years without making a car payment. That%26#039;s what smart people do.
Reply:One of my daughters has done this dumb trick for the last 10 years.

Listen to SmartAss and Firebird!!!!!

Pay it off, then fix it and drive it some more. Why do you think so many people are losing their homes in the US???? Same thing. If you%26#039;re in the negative, you will NEVER get on the positive side by continuing to trade in and buy another vehicle. Ever heard of Dave Ramsey?? He%26#039;s a great financial advisor. They don%26#039;t usually make you show paystubs to buy a car.. you just tell them how much you make.. or put it on the application. I wouldn%26#039;t worry about it. Just do get a new car!

If you are talking about getting a loan.....I assume you file income tax, you should. If you do, take your last years prepared tax forms to the bank and see what they can do for you.

You must have some sort of proof that you are employed ( a list of clients, an appointment book, your licensing paperwork) and your income (banks statements, receipt books, IRS forms) or else you%26#039;ll never get anywhere.
Reply:If you mean you are being paid %26#039;under the table%26#039; and your income is not verifiable, you%26#039;re out of luck as far as getting a loan. Masters in Business Administration.

Selling financed car to private party?

I currently owe about $14000 on my car. However, my car is only worth about $12000. I was stupid when I bought the car and it%26#039;s just too expensive for me now so, I want to get rid of it. Trading the car in is not an option so, I want to sell it to a private party.

Basically, if I sold the car for $12000, I would still have $2000 floating around on a car that I just sold and I don%26#039;t think the bank would go for that. Could I obtain an installment loan for the remaining balance, or is there another more simple way? And if a loan option would work, how could I protect both me and the buyer since, I still would have to pay the $2000 before they received the title.
Selling financed car to private party?
You will need to come up with the $2000 to supply to the company. The new buyer will not be able to insure or register the vehicle with out the title. You can not legaly sell a car that has a loan on it (unless someone is takeing over the payments and this has been established with your lender). Unfortunatally... you may want to go to your bank... take out a loan for $2000, pay off the loan on the car... and from there pay your bank back. This way there is no mess between you and the buyer. Good luck.
Selling financed car to private party?
If you don%26#039;t have the cash to pay off the loan balance you will need a loan. Your bank should work with you to get you out from under the expensive car and the negative equity. If they won%26#039;t, shop around, there are plenty of available options for low interest small loans.

Once you obtain the loan you%26#039;ll get a check that you can apply to the car and pay off the loan. Just make sure the loan you get and the amount of money you get from selling the car are enough to cover the full balance due on the car loan.

Just meet the buyer at your bank, take his money and the check you got from your personal loan and put them together and pay off the car in full. The bank will process the paperwork and send the title directly to the new owner.
Reply:Ok here is the deal. You HAVE to pay of the lender. So get the loan for the two grand from someone. THEN you can sell the car for $12000. Try and get more if you can...then you can sell the car, send their 12 grand and your 2 grand to the lender...they will send you the title THEN you are done. Then just pay off the person who gave you the two grand. Thats it. YOU CAN NOT SELL THAT CAR TO ANYONE WITHOUT PAYING THE ENTIRE AMOUNT TO THE LENDER.
Reply:Cars are sold by title, and you don%26#039;t have a clear title since you owe the bank money.

So, gather up $2 grand to go with the $12 grand you can get from the sale. You and the buyer go to the bank together, he hands them $12 grand, you hand them $2 grand, they hand you the title or the lien release, depending on the way it works in your state, and you sign it over to the buyer.

Just Bought a new car, What should i do next.?

Well my uncle actually gave it to me, What are the steps I have to do to make it legal to drive, never had a car before
Just Bought a new car, What should i do next.?
Before you move it even an inch, get insurance on it, naming you as primary driver.

Take the insurance card and the signed title your uncle gave you and register the car in your name. If he gave you a bill of sale stating it was a gift, bring that along.

Enjoy.

get it registered in your name. go to the tag office and ask. Transferring it in your name should just be about $20.

Would you advise against buying a used car with a turbo?

I am thinking of buying a 2005 Audi A4 1.8Turbo. The car came with a factory turbo installed. However my friend swears that you should NEVER buy a car with a turbo that is used because they always fail? What do you guys think? Anyone with an old Audi A4 have lots of problems?
Would you advise against buying a used car with a turbo?
I own 2000 Audi A4 with turbo. If the car was well taken care of then it would be OK.

But the problem is that for the averge driver - it is difficult for you tell. Just about the only thing you can do is

(1) peek into the oil filler cap and see if you see any sludge (like brown jello)

(2) get compression test done

(3) get oil analysis - if possible

(4) alway use FULL SYNTHETIC oil - if you buy it.

The last item is NOT an option. If the previous owner also use FULL synthetic oil (and you believe him), you should not have any problem.

===

Audi have slightly higher than average problems. And the cost of labor and parts are tremendously expensive.

good Luck...
Would you advise against buying a used car with a turbo?
The 1.8T is probably Audi%26#039;s best engine. I wouldn%26#039;t be overly concerned with the turbo any more than I would any other major component on a used car. As long as the car has been well maintained and not abused it%26#039;s not an issue.

Have it fully inspected by a qualified mechanic, the same as you would any used car.

If this was an after market mod or some boy racer with an aero kit, decals and whale tail I think I%26#039;d pass, but if the car is in good shape, stock configuration and has been well cared for and shows no signs of abuse I would not be concerned.

unless your a mechanic with another car to drive while you wait for your replacement parts to arrive in the mail. don%26#039;t buy an Audi.

OK I WANT TO KNOW WHY EVERY SiNGLE HYBRID VEHICLE IS UGLY?? YES THEY ARE GOOD ON GAS BUT WHY ARE THEY SO UGLY?

I think hybrids could start selling really good if they just made them look nice. They should make sports car versions or something. And I think they would sell extremely good because the hybrids price range doesnt extend past the low 20,000%26#039;s. I mean hybrids are so good on gas but I would never get one because they are so freakin ugly. If they just made one look sporty like a mustang or camaro or something!! omg

Reply:There is no difference between the usual gasoline version of a vehicle, and the hybrid with the except of the under hood power train.

Look at the 2008 Ford Escape for example. Now look at the hybrid version. See any difference beyond the trim piece that says hybrid, and the price tag?
Reply:Well the only dedicated hybrid model sold in America today is the Toyota Prius.

The Civic Hybrid is exactly the same car as the regular Civic. So is the Aura, Escape, Malibu and Altima.

The reason Ford doesn%26#039;t make a Mustang hybrid is because people don%26#039;t think of fuel economy when they think of Mustang, they think of sporty and fast. No reason confuse the market.
Reply:I agree with you. They are truly ugly things.

However, when you add up your gas savings and realize how seldom you are at the pump, they grow on you. :)
Reply:Why does it matter? Anyway, they don%26#039;t sell more right now because it doesn%26#039;t make sense financially for people to get themselves into a brand new car, with higher monthly payments just for lower gas mileage. Unless you drive a Hummer (probably one of the ugliest cars out there) or some other behemoth of a vehicle, it doesn%26#039;t make sense. It%26#039;s smarter to pay off the current vehicle and just get wise and careful about driving habits.
Reply:It would be nice if you actually knew what you were talking about before you asked stupid questions. The RX400h, GS400h, and LS400h are all hybrids and all look good. There is an electric sports car out called the Tesla Roadster. A quick google search will show you all of them. Hybrids are selling fine btw.

If it%26#039;s a brand new car you will more than likely have to order it. If, however, it%26#039;s a used car you can drive it away so long as it has a current MOT, log book and you have arranged insurance cover (get a quote first - you will need car registration number, then ring back later if you buy the car and accept the quote) and have paid for it other than by cheque. :0)
Reply:If you mean brand new, and they have it in stock, then you have to pay for it, including time for a cheque to clear, and give them a valid insurance certificate for registration something like 24 hours before driving away

IT MAY DEPEND ON HOW YOU ARE GOING TO PAY

IF PRE REGISTERED IT DEPENDS IF YOU ARE GOING TO PAY BY BANKERS DRAFT THEN YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO DRIVE AWAY

IF THE CAR IS LESS THAN 3 YEARS OLD YOU DON%26#039;T NEED AN MOT

IF IT%26#039;S OVER 3 YEARS OLD YOU NEED AN MOT

What you drive and patriotism?

Does what you drive show a sign of Patriotism or lack there of?

In many countries American cars are not sold and in order to import them into the country you have to pay an enormous tax somewhere between 50 to 100% the cost of the car itself. That means a $35,000 Dodge Charger R/T would after taxes cost you around $70,000, because foriegn countries find it UNPATRIOTIC to buy an American car and will only support there countries companies. What do you think and why? And what do you drive and why?
What you drive and patriotism?
I do NOT believe it%26#039;s un-patriotic to buy a car no matter where it%26#039;s made. Some will disagree with me, mostly due to ignorance. I don%26#039;t think there is a major car company in the WORLD that gets it%26#039;s money strictly from the country it is headquartered in. That is to say, if here in the U.S. someone bought a Honda, they wouldn%26#039;t be making the Japanese rich. I would bet Honda is owned by mostly investors outside of Japan. It all depends how you look at it.
What you drive and patriotism?
Today, many %26quot;foreign%26quot; cars are built right here in the USA, so how could you regulate that?

I do drive an American brand GM car, but am not opposed to an import.
Reply:This is a Very Heated Debate in the Line of work I am in.

For instance, GM makes many of their cars overseas...and Honda / Toyota make many of theirs in the states....so defining %26quot;Buying American%26quot; is all a matter of perspective.

I sell Honda%26#039;s, but was buying them many years before I sold them because of their Reliability and Car for the Money...

Many of my friends would complain about the 100k Mile bug in their %26quot;Domestic%26quot; brand cars....and here I am with a 94 EX Accord Coupe with 213k Miles on it with very few issues other than regular maintenance...and it still runs and looks great and gets 35 MPG....so I think it should be a matter of common sense and research moreso than where it was built.

(Mine was built in Marysville Ohio by the way)

How does trading in a car for a new one work?

Before you walk into a dealership, go to one of the websites below to find out what the Trade-In value for your car is....be honest about the condition. That should be the amount you expect to get for your car from a dealership. Make sure you have your title handy so the trade-in process will go smoothly.

When you walk into a dealership and start talking prices. Never mention that you are going to trade-in a car up front. Just say, %26quot;I may be considering it%26quot;. This way, they can%26#039;t mess around with the final numbers before you agree on a final price for the new car. Once that%26#039;s negotiated and agreed upon, then you bring up the fact that you would like to get your car appraised for a trade-in. Let their appraiser look at your car and give you an amount. If it%26#039;s acceptable to you and the salesperson, then you%26#039;re good to go. The value of your car will be deducted from the price of the new car. You will only have to pay tax on the difference that between your trade-in and the new car...not the full price of the new car.
How does trading in a car for a new one work?
Here%26#039;s a strategy that Worked the best for me over time. First off determine what new car you want to buy along with a list of options that you want. Find out the invoice price of the car from say cars.com or a TMV from Edmund%26#039;s.

Next approach several dealers in your area for that car. NEVER disclose the fact that you want to trade. Show them the invoice price from cars.com or the TMV. Make sure to ask for out the door/on the road price including Tax Title Registration. (That%26#039;s how you discover Surprises called Doc Fees.)

Tell them to beat the Numbers from cars.com. You can even set them off against each other by showing the price of one to the other. Be careful this can and does backfire. Also make sure you compare the prices for the same configuration. For Ex. if one Dealer asks $500 more %26#039;cause his model comes with Cruise/Sunroof etc, then deduct $500 from his price before comparing.

Once you identified the Dealer with lowest price. Go in person and iron out Final out the door price one more time. This time lean on him for every Item that gets added to the invoice price. You will be surprised to discover how whiny they can be. You must be a hard nosed SOB to deal with it. After all that, tell him you have a trade. *No dealer how big Poker player he is, can%26#039;t hide his disappointment on that!)

Make sure you get a fair price on your trade in. Use KBB as a ballpark but not as upper limit.

NEVER as in NEVER EVER had over the keys to the Trade in. Insist on accompanying while they take test Drive. Pocket the keys after they are done driving. You can hand them back once you got the price you wanted.

An altogether approach is to go through carsdirect.com and selling the Trade on your own or to the dealer from whom they got the car.

Hybrid vehicles...?

Hey!! Next year i will be turning sixteen and i know for sure i am getting a hybrid car...what are the best hybrid cars to get. Well i don%26#039;t exactly want a car soo...whats the best hybrid medium size SUV to get?? Thanks!!
Hybrid vehicles...?
Prius, Civic for cars, Highlander, Escape for mini-SUV%26#039;s
Hybrid vehicles...?
you should do more research, at the current price point buying a hybrid doesn%26#039;t make the best financial sense. There are plenty of less expensive cars that get good gas mileage. Plus, you will always pay sticker or more for a hybrid. Furthermore, Hybrids do a fair amount of harm to the planet, think about the batteries. The nickel that is mined for them comes from one of the dirtiest places on earth. Also after the usable life of the battery, where does it go? its still toxic hundreds of years after the fact. Some people would say...recycle them...ok, that takes mass amounts of energy as well. More than you think it does. I applaud your effort to become more green. But you have to think about for the long run, right now hybrids are the %26quot;IT%26quot; thing. But there is no metric in place for understanding what will become of the 1st and 2nd generation batteries inside them. Until a power source is developed that is somewhat inert to environment long after its useful life, hybrids are not the way of the future.
Reply:Toyota is the top selling hybrid right now. Honda is setting it%26#039;s sights on passing them in a year or so. Ford makes a fine product in it%26#039;s Escape and Merc. Mariner, both mid. sized SUVs.
Reply:Yes. This is REAL.. it DOES WORK! I have done it to my personal cars, and all of my family

members who requested.. (which was most of them!)

I recommend buying this guide since its the cheapest (29.95 instead of 35 or 60 !) and it%26#039;s

the same as all the other ones. Good luck and happy saving!

I drive a Nissan Titan and with the the way gas prices are, I want to sell it. Should I do this?

I was going to put a ad on craigslist just saying will take whatever the payoff is that day. I know I owe less then what bluebook says. Do you think i could sell it quick that way?
I drive a Nissan Titan and with the the way gas prices are, I want to sell it. Should I do this?
umm go to a dealer .

no one is going to buy a titan with the prices now.
I drive a Nissan Titan and with the the way gas prices are, I want to sell it. Should I do this?
The longer you hold on to it, the harder it will be to sell (with the way the economy is headed).

Just selling it for the remaining loan is not in your best interest to get rid of the truck... Try selling it for what it is (or near) actual worth... Knock a couple grand off the price and list it.
Reply:what year titan, crewcab or what?

I would say you are in a bit of a pickle due to the economy and junk, i think your best bet would be to get out from under it before book drops on it. Since it is loaded i think you will probably realize your expectations though.
Reply:If you sell your truck now a days, you will not get the more than $15,000 due to the boom economy(gas). If I were you, buy a used cheap car and keep the truck. When the gas is back down, then try to sell it. Good luck

Haggling for a car price??

I%26#039;m going to be buying my first car this weekend.... If the total price of the car ended up being $19,877.00... How much would you offer? I wouldn%26#039;t want to get laughed at for going too low or get ripped off for not going low enough...
Haggling for a car price??
First off find out what%26#039;s the invoice price on the car. No one I repeat no one should be paying Sticker Price on any car New or Pre owned. I%26#039;d try and get the Invoice Price or at least as close to it as possible. For a $19877 car, Invoice could be 16000 to 17000.

Shop around with several Dealers. Tell them all as such that you are looking at Numbers from select few. That should get them motivated. Compare prices with neighboring State or a dealer from smaller town in your area. If you are in a small town, try nearest bigger town. The Dealers from the other town would love to beat your local dealer to it.
Haggling for a car price??
If it is new, people don%26#039;t know you are supposed to haggle upwards. Ask what they payed for it (invoice price). For example, lets say you are talking about a car that has a sticker price of $49500. The dealer says they payed $46000 Flat for it. You could go up in price to $47200 and get a better price before going down. Also, never talk about trade-in until you actually get a price for the car. If you mention it before, dealers may not be able to do as well on price.

For you car, I would offer something in the low to mid 17%26#039;s, maybe $17200. It would be nice if you specified what type of car it is. This would be important because if the car was something such as the Dodge Nitro, you could go to the high 16%26#039;s because they are not selling at all. If it was something hot like a Prius or Mini Cooper, you would not be able to get much off.

Find other dealers with similar cars near by and get a price by them. See if your dealer you are dealing with will match it. If they can%26#039;t, by from the other dealer.

Good Luck
Reply:I don%26#039;t want to screw up your buying experience, but the car market really and I mean really sucks right now!!! They should be willing to deal. If that is sticker on a new car I would offer at least a couple of K%26#039;s(thousand) lower than the asking price. If that is a used car maybe more. Most car dealers are willing to peel off the price quite a bit to move inventory! Especially in the depressed market we are in right now! Don%26#039;t pay that sticker whatever you do.
Reply:if that%26#039;s a setteled price then you could say what would be the least, then they should give a lower price then you could offer a bit less than that. they usually give in but also look up an approximate price for theat type of vehicle so that you can tell him/her that that is to much so they can lower it.

How low can i argue a used car that is worth $10, 500.?

can i get it to 7500 or below?

How low can i argue a used car that is worth $10, 500.?
Why would you want to buy it, first of all? Way to many miles. You know how much parts are when it breaks? (not if)
How low can i argue a used car that is worth $10, 500.?
I bet you could get it for $8500.00 There are alot of those cars on cars.com right now listed around $9,000 so i would do a little market research and let the people you are looking at buying the car from know that you are an educated buyer. Maybe $7500.00, but only if you really know how to deal

Reply:We%26#039;ve owned a Honda Pilot which we loved and an Acadia which also holds 7+. Both we love and they actually get similar gas milage to each other which is a lot better than a tahoe or yukon.
Reply:Some great Crossovers are the Saturn Outlook, Chevy Traverse, Buick Enclave and the GMC acadia, which seat 7-8 people and get 24 MPG without looking like an %26quot;uncool%26quot; minivan.

The Expedition, Flex, Explorer and Taurus X from Ford seat 7-8 people also, but the Expedition and Explorer suck at fuel economy because they have V8%26#039;s.

The Mazda CX-9 is Motor Trend%26#039;s SUV of the year, so you know it has some great qualities, like seating for 7 and lot of saftey features. I think it gets like 22-24 MPG.

Good Luck.

How much are these cars worth?

My neihbor is a rich man whose a car collector and a car enthusiast. Can you tell me how much his cars are worth? Each one if possible? here%26#039;s his list, i%26#039;ve learned them all:

1957 cadillac Brougham Eldorado

1966 excalibur SS roadster

1984 excalibur Phaeton Anniversary car

1924 excalur Packard Sport touring

How much are those cars worth?
How much are these cars worth?
Go to Nada.com.

However, the ultimate question is now how much they%26#039;re %26quot;worth%26quot;, but how much someone would actually pay for them.

And also, whether you can find the market for them.

The cars may be listed at $50,000, as a random example, but if no one%26#039;s in the market for them.....they simply won%26#039;t sell. Making their actual value $0.

Edit: If he%26#039;s not selling them, then they have no monetary value. Just sentimental value. It%26#039;s like asking how much your children are worth.

So, infinite personal value, no monetary value. There you go.
How much are these cars worth?
Looking in Hemmings motor News, which gives you an idea of what similar cars go for, I came up with this:

2 1957 Cadillac Eldorados, ranging in price from $89,000-$139,900.

A Packard Twin Six two years older than your neighbor%26#039;s car, with an asking price of $120,000.

A dozen Excaliurs of various years, with prices ranging from $29,500 to about $45.000.

Should I get a car from the auction or dealership?

Gas is so high right now and so is the cost of everything else. I%26#039;ve been saving up for a car but I%26#039;m not sure if I should

A) go back to the Cheve dealership that can get me in a car with a $1000 down, under $250 car payment (not including insurance). Good warranty and I can own it in 2-3 years. Problem is I only work part time so 1/2 of my checks will go towards just the car. Or do I....

B) Save up $1500, go to a used car place, have no warranty but no car payments?
Should I get a car from the auction or dealership?
AWW you just the person a dealer loves to see
Should I get a car from the auction or dealership?
i work at a car dealership and my personal opion is never buy a car from an auction unless you are mechanically inclined. even if a car looks good does not mean it runs good. most of the cars at auctions are vehicles from whole sale dealers which means most of them buy the cars off dealership lots that would cost way more for the dealer to fix

then they would make selling it.
Reply:I agree with princess, do not get a car at auction.

For the time being, just save up 1500 and get a used car.

Which should I buy?

We want a vehicle that has seating for at least 7 up to 9. Should we buy a bigger SUV since they are so cheap right now and pay more for gas, or should we buy a cross-over type or smaller SUV that has less %26quot;room%26quot; but gets better gas mileage...
Which should I buy?
u should go with the one that has less room but is better on gas

also better on the environment
Which should I buy?
Personally, I would go with the smaller and better gas mileage one.

Gas is not going to ever get cheaper. It will stay high and the larger high priced Suv%26#039;s will soon become totally uneconomical to drive and sit in the garages.
Reply:well it depends on how you are economicly and your preferances of vehicles, but i would go with the one with better gas mileage.
Reply:Best thing to do is make a list of suvs you might like and test drive them all this costs nothing and means you can decide easier try a LEXUS RX400H there sleek, sporty or the Volvo xc90 sporty, safe, runs well on petrol great car hope this helps

Reply:Get the smaller vehicles as long as you don%26#039;t have to dislocate your limbs just to fit in the 2nd and 3rd rows.
Reply:You%26#039;re going to be hard pressed to find a %26#039;smaller%26#039; SUV that will fit 0. Our Expedition does and let me tell you, it is EXPENSIVE to drive right now. It costs us about $70 to fill it up. We take our Subaru everywhere now and have found that we don%26#039;t really NEED all of the room that we thought we did. It%26#039;s nice to have the Expedition when we take the boat to the lake or when we%26#039;re transporting Boy Scouts, but when we get rid of the boat, we%26#039;re getting rid of the gas guzzling monster.
